Vivian Maier Vivian Dorothy Maier was born on February 1, 1926. Vivian was the daughter of a French mother, Maria Jaussaud Justin, and an Austrian father, Charles Maier.  She grew up in New York, NY. She was an American street photographer whose work was not discovered and recognized until after her death. She worked for about forty years as a nanny, mostly in Chicago's North Shore, where she pursued photography on the side. In her lifetime, she took more than 150, 000 photos! During her lifetime, her photographs were unknown and unpublished and many of her negatives were never printed. Collectors found boxes of Maier's negatives and uploaded the images onto the internet. Since then, the photographs have been exhibited all over the world. Many of her photographs depict street scenes in Chicago and New York in the 1950s and 1960s. She died on April 21, 2009. Richard Avedon Richard Avedon was born on May 15, 1923. He was born in New York, NY to a Jewish family.

Selfie vs Self-portrait Below is the photo that I used for inspiration when creating a self-portrait. I personally like this image as it is being taken through glass and the person has a shadow behind her. This makes this image more dynamic and gives the viewers different perspectives to look at. https://www.widewalls.ch/self-portrait-photography-photographers/ In my self-portrait, I attempted to recreate the one I used for inspiration. I took a wild shot and used a mirror instead of a glass. I made the room dark and used the flash from my phone camera. I really liked how it turned out as the flash added some lens flare making the picture more dynamic. The lines, circles, and random shapes that the flash created made this portrait more vivid. I tried to have a neutral tone to my face as did the lady in the previous image. In my selfies, I wanted to go a little rogue. I really didn't have any idea of what to do so I added some filters on my images to make it more amus

Due to the coronavirus, photography class has gotten more challenging. We are stuck at home doing online classes and we do not have our cameras. Mr. Worrell came up with an alternative way to solve this dilemma. We now use our phones to take pictures! Whilst this is a challenge as I have an iPhone 6 (it's 6 years old), I still tried my best to take these photos. The goal of this assignment was to take portrait pictures but of ordinary objects instead of people. In this image, I have a calculator that has many lines graphed, and it is on top of a notebook with math notes written in it. The background is there to show more of the math theme if not demonstrated by the calculator. In this image, I used many compositional tools such as lines and form. In snapseed, I used vintage 9 to blur out the top section of the page as it added some contrast to the picture. I made the glow setting 27 to add an aura around the calculator.
